American Logistics Aid Network (ALAN)

Competitive Insights is a founding member of the American Logistics Aid Network (ALAN). Richard Sharpe is an officer of ALAN, which consists of 21 supply chain professional organizations.

ALAN’s specific efforts center on providing products and resources to Volunteer Organizations for Aid in Disaster (VOAD’s) including groups like The American Red Cross, The Salvation Army and other well respected relief organizations.

ALAN also leverages its members’ supply chain management knowledge and resources to enhance VOADs’ processes for providing the right goods and services in the right quantities at the right location, at the right time during emergencies and disasters.

For 11 years, Competitive Insights has worked with specific leading Food Banks in addition to Feeding America to offer supply chain improvement programs to various food banks around the country.




The services rendered include network analysis activities, routing and scheduling improvements and overall Distribution Center workflows and inventory positioning activities. In addition, Competitive Insights has worked directly with a number of food banks on specific programs tailored for their operations.
